35 Valerie from New Zealand: Just to say that the tune Robin plays on the piano on the stairs seems to be "Wedding Day at Troldhaugen" by Grieg. Glad I managed to track it down! Love the series: happy memories.
34 Sarah Louise Roscoe from England: I'm only 20 and wasn't born in the 70's but my mum got me into likeing Math because she got me into likeing Yootha Joyce and she told me that George and Mildred was the landlord and landlady of the house and now i absolutely LOVE,LOVE watching both MATH and George and Mildred they are both GREAT sitcoms and i am so glad that my mum told me about them
33 richard thomas from england: Hi im Richard Thomas 71 yr old retired actor Doug fisher and i became great mates along with rich osullivan, i got doug a flat nxt to me late sixtys up till 1980 never new he passed away in 2000 he will be sadly missed
32 Jan Robertson from Highlands, Scotland: I am a big fan of 70's comedy and since discovering Man About the House i have bought the whole series on DVD, as well as George & Mildred & Robin's Nest. I wondered if anyone could help me, i'm looking for the episode of This Is Your Life which featured Richard O'Sullivan, if anyone has it or knows where i can find it, could they please e-mail me? Thank you
31 jacqui c-w from bournemouth: Being 14/15 at the time this went to air I lived and breathed math and still love it as much today. When I watch it now I remember most people were happy go lucky like Robin, Chrissy & Jo. I so wish it could be like that now. One of my favourites is when Robin opens some dog food for the puppy they are hiding and Mildred gives it to George for his tea. I also had the pleasure of seeing Richard & Sally back in 1974, I was on a school outing and us girls were posting notes in the back of the coach window to them as they were driving behind us in a green sports car. They were great and kept smiling and waving to us. The whole cast were brilliant.
30 Alex Crooks from Scotland: Watch MATH every day. Does anyone know who the pop group on the wall are?
29 Alan from UK: One of my fave episodes was "Colour Me Yellow" (first shown in January 1974), where Robin is bullied by a man in the pub after this guy trys to make a pass at Chrissie. And the part where Robin keeps going on about the incident back at the flat, not wishing to convey the impression of cowardice to the two girls, and "High Noon" suddenly comes on the radio to exacerbate his irritation all the more. Utterly brilliant!
Why can't they do a Man About The House 25 years on, as somebody suggested on this forum. It would be great to see the cast reunited again.
28 Katie B from Brisbane, Australia: Jo was my favourite character - I would so have loved to look just like her, she was just so cute. With flatmates like Robyn and Chrissie, I would never have been bored either. Wasn't the flat just gorgeous? `Mildred and George were the funniest landlords too.
27 Gary from London: Did anybody spot the joke in the closing credits of the earlier series of MATH? It was removed later. I have often wondered, why?
26 Alex from Italia: Favourite moment? many. When Robin & Crissy played french monopoly with Ropers
25 MD from Hartlepool: One of the all-time classics - I always envied Richard O'Sullivan being with two gorgeous girls. I particularly liked Sally Thomsett. Apparently in the UK Network Video are releasing the series on DVD, hopefully including the 10 minute mini-episode from Christmas Day 1973. A bit I liked was in an episode where Robin and Chrissy are doing Roper's garden. Robin stops, looks at Chrissy and says "You've just stuck the rake into my foot!" then we cut to Roper looking out the window and complaining that instead of doing the garden, "That Robin Tripp bloke is jumping up and down all over the place!"
24 Johann from Amsterdam: I too am much enjoying Man About the House, especially the episode in which Robin meets a nasty DJ (playing by Tony Blackburn), accusing him of running off with his wife. This I find too funny.
23 Johann from Amsterdam: I too am much enjoying Man About the House, especially the episode in which Robin meets a nasty DJ (playing by Tony Blackburn), accusing him of running off with his wife. This I find too funny.
22 marjan de groot from holland: I too love man about the house especially the episode where chrissy is alone with robin when jo has to attend the baptisism of a baby.
Chrissy is so afraid of robin
thinking he is going to make a pass at her but he isn't. It is so funny. And of course the silly neighbours I just love them.
21 Benjay X Murphy from Southend-On-Sea, Essex, England: I am Brian Murphy's Second Cousin, just fort I'd say!!!
20 Fleaster from London: I love Man about the house because my mate Noj is the the spitting image of Richard O'sullivan, including sideburns on occasion. At the moment I am trying to get him to grow his hair a bit and grow the sides. This is not a new thing though it goes back to the seventies/early eighties when we were very young. But with the recent showing of Robins Nest on Sky, there has been a revival and none of my friends nor Noj and I miss the show, though he finds it a bit spooky. I would love to see Man about the house again and George and Mildred which I loved as a youngster.
19 anthony from australia: Robins sideburns in the first series are absolutely fantastic
18 Geoff Bemrose from Stoke On Trent: Another 70s classic comedy, from the brilliant pens of Johnnie Mortimer&Brian Cooke, brilliantly cast, superbly set and the babetastic Paula Wilcox, not to mention the sadly missed Yootha Joyce. My favourite episode? Probably the first one where Robin meets Chrissie&Jo after falling asleep in their bath after a party the night before in the flat.Excellent, please never stop showing M.A.T.H.
17 Scott from Australia: Loved this show! It is a shame that they don't make them like this anymore. If it wasn't the catchy theme or the double entendre that seemed endless throughout each episode, it was Jo's tight yellow slacks prancing down the street in the opening credits!
16 Alan from Merseyside: I especially loved Jo, played by Sally Thomsett, in the series. By the way, If there are any single blonde girls out there who resemble Jo, then I would love to hear from you, as I too am single and seeking a girlfriend.
15 Matthew Jones from Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffs (UK): My favourite episode is when Robin pretends that he doesn't know how to play the piano, and plays that tune on the stairs. If anyone knows what it is called, please e-mail me: matt_jones89@hotmail.com - I'm desperate to know!
14 John Pasene from New Zealand: Being born in 68, I was too young to understand and appreciate the humour of Man about the house, but the theme music is still etched in my mind. I loved Robin's nest which was screened in NZ around 1981. I've watched reruns of G&M several times over and it still makes me laugh.
13 Lisa Dunlop from northern ireland: i liked ian lavender as pike in dads army but hes good in eastenders as derek i like you stupid boy saying, it was funny
12 freddie from elgin: brilliant comedy such a shame we dont see the actors anymore this comedy was just a great boost to ones week & what a boost it spawned two more great comedys ie: goerge & mildred & robins nest
11 Melanie Walker from Tipton West Midlands: I used to like Man About the House because it was so natural and funny. Little did I know then that I would have the pleasure of meeting and working with Paula Wilcox in Blue Heaven some years later.
10 Jules from England: I as born in 71, so I was very young or must have been repeated many moons ago but i came across this on cable last week, and the theme tune came back like it was yesterday, same went for G&M!!
9 Dorothy from USA: Man about the house is a classic sitcom, Its one of the greatest. I wish Chrissy and Robin would have got married, Just like Jack and Janet on Three's Company, Its a shame they did not. MATH is a funny and witty comedy. If you havent seen it, Watch it!
8 Danny O'Brien from London: For me this was the 70's. Everytime i see an old episode i am back there, the clothes, the decor. Its what we all from that era remember it as, Good fun times.......
7 Colin from Scole, Norfolk: One of my all time favorite sit-coms. I've often thought that this would be ripe for a '25 years on' follow up T.V. movie in the comedy drama vein. All of the surviving stars of this programme are so under used, what better way could there be to get them back on our screens than to have them reprise their roles?
6 Jeremy Cobbold from LEEDS: Along with Rising Damp, Man About the House was, in my opinion, without doubt, the best sit com ITV ever produced. Can't say if I had a favourite moment. I enjoyed all the episodes. When it was repeated in the late 80's on Channel 4, fairly late at night and up against 'Allo, Allo' on BBC1, it drew in a watching audience of about 4 million, testimony to its quality. Far superior to latter day flat share comedies like 'Men Behaving Badly', it was suggestive and witty without ever having to resort to crass vulgarity to elicit a laugh. But whatever happened to Richard O'Sullivan ? He seems to have disappeared without trace.
5 Cassie from USA: Man About The House is a real classic! The cast work well together & the characters are lively & some of the expressions Robin makes in certain scenes are refreshing & witty. This series, is yet another vintage programme that has re-watchability. And it's no wonder. My only qualm is that Robin & Chrissy never became Mr. Mrs. Tripp. I adore the programme & wanted to say we fans appreciate your showing the series. Another jewel in the programme, is the late Doug Fisher. As Larry, he was a delight & full of vinegar. A shame we lost him so young. He will be remembered.
4 Patricia Dempsey from Southampton, UK: Innovative at that time, and so often imitated badly. Favourite moment? George eating the dog food and Yootha Joyce trying not to laugh. Absolutely classic.
3 Tim Cooper from Leamington Spa: This is my all-time favourite sit-com. The whole cast was wonderful but for me George and Mildred often stole the show. There were many great episodes but my favourite has to be 'Of mice and men' which was situation comedy at it's very best.
2 Wolfgang from Austria: This series and the spin-off "Robin's Nest" were shown in Austria with great success. Unfortunately we only see british sit-coms very rarely... :-(
I was a teenager when the series was shown and I just loved the peculiar Ropers and the "stupid" Jo... the humour was perfect and all actors charming.
1 Kevin Hughes from originally from Manchester: Man About The House was the funniest sit-com to come out of the super 70's.
My favourite moment was when Robin was teaching Chrissy to drive with the chunky chicken can and the
toilet brush, while sitting on
the couch - absolutely
hysterical!!!!!!!
