85 pamela gregson from Telford: hi there just finished reading the pete duel book by paul green, I thought he only had a drink problem I did not know he took drugs too, yesturday it was so nice I looked out of my window and all I wanted to do was go over and see pete duels old home, impossible really as I live in the uk, but that is how I felt after finishing the book. hard to believe he would have been 66 years old had he lived! I have series one of alias and I will shortly be trying to find series 2 and 3. pam
84 Anita Wilson from Manchester: Pete's death had a huge impact on me, which has been with me ever since. Is is a marvellous show and the world lost someone special the day Pete died
83 Steve Nunn from Norwich, UK: Best TV series ever. Nothing's matched it in the past 30 years. Just such a feel-good atmosphere to it and the chemistry between Pete Duel and Ben Murphy kept it spinning along. I defy anyone not to be uplifted by watching a couple of episodes! Is Season Two going to be released on DVD soon?
82 kristina monroe from gaylord michigan: i started to watch it when we got direct tv. now we have cable and we dont have movie channels any more. i have to watch online. I love the show very much
81 Michele Austin from New Zealand: I first saw ASJ in re-runs when I was a kid. I saw a few episodes but fell in love with Pete right from the start. Now years later I finally get to see all episodes of season one on the dvd. The show is still as great as I remember and Pete is still as gorgeous. (That smile just makes me melt)
80 kathy mcgoldrick from winchester mass: Love Pete and Ben. I still watch AS&J on Saturday mornings at 7:30 am on the western channel. I also have the dvd. Totally awesome. This is a great tribute to both men. Love your fan Kathy

78 shirley utting from norfolk uk: I remember my friend coming in to work and telling me that pete had died such a shame but i am mainly a ben murphy fan god bless both off them
77 Debra from Ohio: I remember being so devastated when Pete died. I too, couldn't bear Roger as Heyes. (There is only one Hannibal Heyes as far as I'm concerned) I can't tell you all how happy I am to have this show back in my life again, through the internet and videotape. I'm happy I'm not the only one who loves and remembers Pete. And I'm glad to know I'm not alone in that love!
76 Daysy from Ballarat Australia: Too young to remember the year AS&J was on in Australia but it was aired at 8.30 pm and I had to badger my Mum to let me stay up and watch it. I would love to see AS&J in full as an adult. I do remember the song Gift to be Simple... and even remember some of the words. (tune - Lord of the Dance?) I especially remember the way my young girl's heart skipped a beat. I thought Ben and Pete were the absolute benchmark of knock-a-bout handsome guys ever. No wonder I also like the song ...Desperado. Soft spot for a cowboy! It is so great to find this site and know I that I am not the only one who remembers.
75 lynda maine from edinburgh scotland: I liked Alias Smith and Jones. The Chemistry between Pete and
Ben were terrific/ After Pete died it was never the same. I did like music of the series. It made me want to get up and dance.
74 Rhonda from US: Alias Smith and Jones is my all-time favorite TV show and Pete Duel my all-time favorite actor. It is nice to know that there are so many others who still love and remember such a wonderful actor and show.
73 Cat from Calgary Canada originally Manchester UK: Best TV programme ever and sad that a lot of people haven't heard of these 2 great guys. Didn't know it was being rerun again in the UK, remember the reruns in the mid 90s and we loved them as much as first time round when we were kids.
Needs to be shown in Canada!
Especially loved Pete and spent a sad few minues at his grave in Rochester a few yrs ago.
Loved the chemistry between Pete and Ben, they are the best.
72 Andy Coates from Leeds, England: I loved the show and would never miss it when it was on tv. I think it was better when Pete was in it, the chemistry between him and Ben was brill, a SAD loss to all his fans when he died. I have been trying to get the whole series on DVD.
71 Ann from USA: I hadn't seen the show for 30 years and was thrilled to rediscover it. I wonder why it hasn't aged? Anyway, now I'm in love with Pete Duel all over again - and mourning him again too. First time around I couldn't watch the episodes with Roger Davis because the chemistry between Heyes and Curry just disappeared! I've tried, but still can't get into them. Can't wait for the Pete episodes to rerun again.
70 Kenton Sellgren from Cerritos, California: I was only 8 years old when the series was aired, so I got to know AS+J on re-runs around 1975. As a child I remember playing out the western scenes as Hanibal Hayes with my friends. I would love for this series to come to DVD. I recall during the summer when all the other kids were outside playing, I would go inside at 4:00 in the afternoon to watch Alias Smith and Jones. Thery were and still are Heros of the old west.
69 patrick smythe from isle of wight: was always my favorite programe I used to like it when the kid had to use his gun
68 Lyn Wardell from Wolverhampton, U.K>: I found this site by accident. Very glad I did. Nice to know so many people still remember AS&J. I grew up watching AS&J - wouldn't leave the house when it was on. I was only 16 when Pete died, but I've never forgotten it, or him. Every New Year I still say a silent prayer for him. Roger played the part well enough afterwards, but it wasn't the same, - too hard an act to follow. My favourite episode? Too hard to choose - All of the ones with Pete and Ben in, but probably The McCreedy Bust and The Bounty Hunter. Time we saw re-runs of the show. It's been away too long.
67 Jim from rochester ny: It was my favorite show, and I cried for days when I was told he commited suicide.. It almost made me feel like doing it myself back then. Was having a lot of problem I was only 12-13. I miss a ending of the show 2 years ago and have been waiting to catch another one. I tell my wife about this show and how it made me feel she never heard of it would love to show her one.
66 Ann Fawcett from London: I hope you will be showing more episodes of AS&J soon as I was in hospital when they first came on and missed about 20 episodes. Pete Duel was the best, although I did like Ben and still do. Sorry but I could never accept Roger Davis as Heyes to see it can only be played by one man and one alone - Pete Duel.
65 nikki hedden(laird) from Mukilteo, Washington: I have a lot of fond memories of alias smith and jones i was on the sets during some of the filming when i was little my father did stunts and doubled for ben some times he also did small parts like by the fire he was up until he passed this april very good friends with ben and of course pete when he was alive. well talk atcha later i found this site by chance .
64 Caroline Hammond from London: there is an episode (90 minutes at that!) called the Day they Hung Kid Curry and I've never even seen it..Here's hoping Bye the bye if Elaine from Winchester is still interested after this length of time the song came from The Valley of the Dolls and Universal used it in more than 1 series, I certainly remember it in the Virginian amongst others.
63 Sandy O'leary from Manchester U.K: I was mad on ASAJ and still love to watch it now. I could never make my mind up who I was in love with most, Pete or Ben and I still can't to this day!
I remember quite clearly when Pete died and myself and all my mates had a 2 minute silence for him at school.I still miss him,he was a terrific guy.
More repeats please!
62 Angela Hamilton from Manchester.: Alias smith and jones made my childhood fantastic, I am now 47 and still have a picture of Ben Murphy on my bedroom door at my mum and dads home. Unfortunately I lost my mum last year who sat with me every week to enjoy this fantastic series, it brings alot of memories flooding back and would love to watch the rerun of them all!
61 Jayne from United States: Did you know that Ben Murphy played Sara MacKenzie's love interest on the show that aired March 12th. Lord, he still looks good!
60 Elaine Holloway from Winchester, Hampshire: I have no favourite episode, they were all great. Pete and Ben just gelled completely and made it into the classic it turned out to be. I always wondered who sang that song 'Take a Look Around' but never managed to find it - does anyone know?
59 Malcolm Buckley from Lincolnshire,England: The script of the episode with Lee Majors as Mr Briggs was brilliant, and I can quote word for word Ben's lines when he was asked to 'do that jig again' for wearing his gun in the street.
'Mr Briggs people like you never learn do they? they never know when to stop, well nows the Briggs believe me nows the time.I'm gonna walk across the street, and get me some dinner and if you try to stop me I may kill you'.
There more but it'll take all day,I'm very grateful for the series making my childhood a lot more pleasing,Pete's death was and is a tradgedy,he had it all before him,god bless him and Ben Murphy. This is one brilliant part of the internet,I can see photos and remember the days when the music of AS&J sent me rushing to the tv.Thanks
58 Lisa Buccanan from Gerrards Cross: I am a big fan, particularly of Pete Duel. Please please show the series again soon!
57 Steve from Middlesex: My favourite episode is 'Smiler With a Gun' which reminds me of the film 'Treasure of the Sierra Madre', Smiler also co-starred Roger Davis who took over from Pete Duel, the episode was pure genius as was the acting.
56 SueB from Co. Durham: I was an avid fan the first time the series was shown on TV - especially the early ones with Pete Duel (altho' I am mostly a Ben Murphy fan!). There was such a chemistry between Pete & Ben which, I feel, wasn't evident between Ben & Roger Davis. Please, please show them again soon.
55 Amber from Devon: I like the episode McCreedy Bust: Going Going Gone. The scene where Heyes tries to prevent the Kid from going to dinner with his gun on. I am sure there must be an outtake somewhere where they are both laughing at this.
54 Molly from London: My favourite episodes are The Pilot, McCreedy Bust, The Day They Hanged Kid Curry and The Legacy of Charlie O'Rourke. As a matter of fact I loved them all. Please re-run them soon.
53 Olivia from London: The episodes I like the least have to the ones with Roger Davis. The man I am sure is very nice but he is not Pete Duel. He was unique. God Bless Him
52 patricia from north wales: on screen pete came across as a fun loving person.unfortuatly in his private life he was oviously very unhappy. If only he had realised he could have got over the bad times,he may well be here today.
51 suzanne thomasduel from swansea wales: My favourite episode is when Pete in the first episode is walking towards the saloon with the deputy, trying to put on his socks, this is the first time i saw Pete, and the first time i ever fell in love...I was 15years old.
50 Lee from USA: I loved the scene where Heyes plays guitar and sings Tis a Gift to be Simple...I was about 9, head overheals and clueless about the show being reruns and the tragic truth...when my older Sis broke the news to me, we cried together ~ she had been crazy about Pete Duel too when she was a teenager.
49 Lynda Russell from London: When are you going to show more Smith and Jones especially episodes with Pete Duel. I have been a fan since 1971.
48 lynn from fife: as a teenager in the 70s 8pm BBC2 on a Monday evening was the highlight of the week. I loved the episode where they played Montana Red Dog - we took cards to school to play it in the lunch break!
47 Barbara Jean from USA: After all these years, I still can't get over how lovely Pete Duel look!! God sure knew what He was doing when he created Pete.
46 Mark Gorman from Cumbernauld Glasgow: I love ASJ Pete Duel was a superb actor. I was only 8 years old when it hit our screens in late 1971. I remember every bit about it.
45 Kenny from Raymore, Mo: Before Roger Davis took over the role of Hannibal Heyes, he appeared on an episode where his character was the only man that "Kid" Curry killed in a face off gunfight.
44 duncan lillywhite from chichester: why is it only women who loved AS&J - come on fellas, am I the only one who enjoyed a truly classic cult tv show, and is enjoying it just as much nearly 30 years on??

40 Bridget from Hinckley: Omigod I'm normal after all- there are others like me who pine for Pete. Thanks for keeping the show alive.
39 vicci from overton ,england: i started watching as&j last year. i have been very ill and have spent the last 8 months off school, my mother never lets me watch things like eastenders or brookside so i watch programmes she used to watch as a girl...including alias smith and jones. i love it!! pete duel is soooooo yummy (my friends unfortunatly can't seem to see it) as is ben, who happens to share my last name:murphy!!
38 Al from Northern Ireland: For me the best episode is the Pilot as it had the right blend of humour and action.
One of the best scenes was when Pete Duel, as Hannibal Heyes, gets a job in a bank and is obviously uncomfortable with being on the other side of the counter.
Although Roger Davis was good in his own way he didnt have the same humourous approach as Duel and I think the series suffered slightly as a result. Having said that it was interesting to see his episodes as up until you started showing them I had never seen one on TV
37 donna from london: oh what lovely memories .....i was madly in love with Ben Murphy...had posters all over my bedroom .fav one was Ben in a tin bath .i was 11 and never missed a show .i wrote to him lots as well was lucky enough to receive a hand written letter back..well ihope it was from him .made a young girl very happy .i'd love to write to him again

34 Ina from USA: One of my favorite moments is watching Hayes trotting on his horse while going behind Grace Turner's carriage in "The Shell Game" He rode that horse with ease, grace, style, and class. Awesome!
33 Sue from Surrey: Thank you for still showing this programme, I could watch it again and again. It brings back such memories of my teenage years, and how strongly we felt about things, including these two gorgeous guys, keep it up.

28 Karen from Suffolk: Thank you so much for showing the series Loved it 30 years ago and am hooked again (along with a couple of my 20-something work colleagues who tuned in on my recommendation). Pete Duel was gorgeous - what a smile! Still has the ability to make me melt today.

It was not just good drama it was funny in places too!!!

23 Dorne Wilson from Cumbria ,England: I just love to watch Alias Smith and Jones, an episode a day!!!!!
22 Laura from England: Pete had the best smile I have ever seen and watching him still makes me go weak at the knees. The humour and the chemistry between him and Ben has sadly never been seen again in any other programme.
21 Kim Cabalzar from Australia: It is great to watch a western that relies on humour rather than gunplay. Refreshing.
20 Rachel from Plymouth: I have only watched a few episodes as I am fairly new to the show but I throughly enjoy it and I especially like how Pete duel and Ben Murphy work together they make a real team, I was sad to hear though that Pete Duel had died because I think that he could have done some great things within Alias Smith and Jones along with Ben Murphy.
19 Amy from Birmingham, UK: Love Smith & Jones!! Like others say, the smile or the eyes?!!! Oh what fun finding out! Not only easy on the eyes but also fantastic actors.
18 H. Eaton from Coventry,U.K.: I loved the series because the two characters brought a smile to many people and in this troubled world we all need to be cheered up by great actors. I legally changed my christian name to HEYES some years ago in memory of Pete Duel and had his name tattooed on my arm enclosed in 4 ACES and a horses head to represent the character of Hannibal Heyes, Thanks for the re-runs.
17 Christine from East Sussex: Wonderful to see the show again. It still looks just as good after 30 years. It was always my favourite Western. I like the tongue in cheek humour and the chemistry between Pete and Ben. Long may it continue.
16 Mark from Wales: Love the show. A real trip down memory lane.
15 Tricia Marriott from New York Lincolnshire: Thank you very much for showing Alias Smith and Jones. The chemistry between Pete Duel and Ben Murphy makes the show so enjoyable to watch, as well as Pete Duels good looks, cheeky smile and brown eyes. It is a show I love to watch over and over again.
14 Sue from West Sussex: I had forgotten how good this programme was, I used to love it when it was first shown. I had two enormous posters on my wall one of each of the boys (Pete and Ben), I could never decide which I liked the best, the smile or the eyes, and the great shock when Pete died. It was difficult to watch after that, never quite so good.
13 Lee from England: I have a few odds and ends from 30 years ago, my dad bought me a plastic cowboy from Woolworths after Pete died, he was genuinely being nice!! I still have him on the cupboard, my kids have never asked any curious questions about the cowboy, they know his name is Pete though. Love the show, all episodes are good - used to get upset when Pete had a kissing scene though.
12 Sarah from NW Ireland: Thank you so much for showing ASJ again. It brings back great memories. Pete Duel was a sad loss and irreplaceable. A Legend!
11 Eamon Carr from Sutton Coldfield: Looking at the repeats of AS&J, I now realise what a cracking western series this was, and the interesting point is that it never seems to age, it is always entertaining and seems fresh to the eye, with the sharp acting and the classic one liners. I often wonder how far it would have gone had Pete not died, as I really thought that they complemented each other very well. Long may it live. Thank you for the re-shows.
10 Susan Jones from Paterson, NJ, USA: I have just discovered that ASJ is alive and well in the UK. I have not seen the show since it was canceled in 1973, except for one airing on the pilot TV movie many years ago. I loved Pete Duel and never forgot him. THank you
9 Pauline Atkin from Stockton on tees Teesside: I love Alias Smith and Jones. I was a fan back when it all started and still am and always will be. So glad it's back. Pete (that impish smile) and Ben (those eyes!) were brilliant together, so sad to have one but not the other. Long may it continue.
8 Amanda Steel from Mid Calder, West lothian: Thanks for bringing ASJ back, love watching Pete Duel, favourite episode The Posse that would'nt Quit, as he sings on this episode. Would love to see The day they hanged Kid Curry.
7 Margaret from Staffordshire: It is so nice to see Alias Smith and Jones on TV again - I can remember when it was first shown (like it was last year and not 30 years ago!).
I was never the same when Pete died, but the repeats are always worthwhile watching.
Long may it continue.
6 Jackie from Berks.: So good to see ASJ back on TV, saw the show in the 70's, and still love it now. Like everyone else, wish Pete Duel was still here, the chemistry between him and Ben was amazing.
5 Christine Cody from Hampshire: The series is both action and comedy and has a feel of "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" about it. I particularly enjoy the pairing of Pete Duel and Ben Murphy as there is genuine chemistry between them. Excellent fun and entertainment. May I suggest you show it again!
4 Lynne Coulson from Cheshire: My favourite programme on GP is no longer shown, but it's Bonanza. Alias Smith and Jones is my second favourite. I love the way that the boys care about each other and the humour in the show. Although I am a huge Western fan, I much prefer the gentler ones, which is why Bonanza will always be my favourite as it centred on a family that cared about each other.
3 Sue Norwood from Surrey: I've always loved westerns, mainly for the horses. I (vaguely) remember this programme first time around, but it was never quite the same after Pete Dual died.
2 Martin Standish from Manchester: Reminds me of when i was younger. Sat watching Alias Smith and Jones, wilst eating toast and jam for my tea on a saturday
1 Lynn Covell from Bracknel: The best looking "Bad Guys" in the West. They always managed to get their own back on the nasties with the minimum of violence despite the Kid being the fastest shot. The smiles, the curls, the blue eyes...!
